Atlas & The 3 Valleys
If you need a break from the busy streets of Marrakech, why not make an escape to the beautiful green mountains of the Ourika Valley?
A mere 50 kilometres from Marrakech, your eyes will adjust from city lights and the maze of the medina souks to admiring the deep red earth offsetting the gorgeous greenery.
Traditional mud villages are woven into the landscape, welcoming you to the Berber heartland.
The Berbers, also known as the Amazighs, are indigenous to North Africa. They spread from the Atlantic coast of Morocco to the Siwa Oasis in Egypt. Today they are mostly concentrated in Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. The word Amazighs means “free people” or “noble people.”
Booking your Marrakech Excursions to Atlas & the 3 Valleys with us ensures you experience the full Home James Morocco treatment, including:

While the Berbers have adopted Islam since the 7th century, they still practice some of their pre-Islamic customs. One practice still visible today is face tattooing on women once they get married as a sign of status and respect. The Berbers are master craft workers often specializing in carpets. They would love to show you their countless, intricately hand-made designs over a glass of tea, or two.
Another exceptional attraction in Ourika Valley are saffron farms. Saffron, the most expensive spice in the world, grows naturally in this area and in November you can go to the annual harvest at the Saffron Gardens where Berber women in the area pick the saffron for production. They work from very early in the morning until 11pm to pick the beautiful, purple flowers which will yield 5 kilos of that “red gold.”
On the tour you can expect to pass imposing peaks, winding valleys, flowing rapids and go across rope bridges into the Setti Fatma waterfalls where a local guide will take you on a breath taking walk around the 10 waterfalls and then for a restorative brew of mint tea and a lovingly cooked meal.
